After being closed for nearly thirty years, Terrain led the re-entitlement, restoration, and reopening of Pioneertown’s historic Red Dog Saloon. Situated in the center of Pioneertown’s iconic Mane Street, the structure was featured in multiple B westerns and at various times in its life served as the community’s center as well as the post office, school, and church, oftentimes simultaneously to its operation as a bar and saloon.
The project included the restoration of the building’s exterior as well as preservation of the interior bar, which features carved inscriptions from Pioneertown’s most notable (and occasionally infamous) residents. Extensive coordination with County officials was required to obtain necessary approvals for the building based on its age and historic status; the building now houses an acclaimed cocktail and restaurant led by noted chef Ari Kolender and mixologist Eric Alperin.
